Rucs del Corredor was founded in 1996, driven by Joan Compañó, Paloma Vicente and a group of people committed to the preservation of donkeys. The project opened to the public in 1998 and today the reserve covers a 10-hectare estate of pastures and woodland where between 50 and 60 donkeys live permanently, along with the native fauna of the surrounding environment.
It is a unique space in Spain, as it allows visitors to get to know different donkey breeds close to our region, which are currently endangered. Since its beginnings, the reserve has worked with a very clear objective: to ensure the continuity of these breeds. To achieve this, they have combined selective breeding with awareness, promotion and the reintroduction of donkeys into useful roles adapted to the current context.
